Albanian Ecommerce Association

Assecomm is the first Albanian eCommerce association that is autonomous, apolitical, independent, and non-profit (NPO).
It is characterized by in-depth analysis, open discussion, and the exchange of knowledge, information, and values related to the world of eCommerce. Thanks to the support of its sustaining members, the association secures the resources needed to deliver its services and activities.

Assecomm was founded by a group of professionals who firmly believe in the need to promote, support, and foster the growth of eCommerce and digital transformation across Albania and the Balkan region. The association was officially established on November 17, 2021, and registered with the Tirana Court under decision no. 6799 and act no. 1283 dated 09/12/2021.

Mission

Assecomm’s mission is to be a key point of reference in Albania for the entire eCommerce and digital transformation sector.
Its aim is to promote best practices for selling and buying online, strengthen the digital and eCommerce job market, and share best practices for the development of applications, websites, and eCommerce apps.

Assecomm is also committed to protecting consumer rights, analyzing market trends in the eCommerce space, and facilitating the entry and growth of international eCommerce players in the Albanian market.
The association supports and trains Albanian companies to export goods and services through digital channels, advocates for tax reforms to support eCommerce and online import/export, and proposes reforms and tools to improve the national address system in Albania.

Furthermore, Assecomm promotes the use of electronic payments, encourages the development of incubators and startup acceleration programs, supports the increase in .al domain registrations, and works to spread a strong entrepreneurial culture in the eCommerce sector.

Who Assecomm is for

The Assecomm association provides support and training to consumers, professionals, sellers, and companies operating in the field of online sales, both in Albania and abroad.

This nonprofit organization (NPO) is aimed at:

  • influencers and key opinion leaders (KOLs);
  • professionals involved in the ecommerce world (webmasters, web designers, SEO experts, UX/UI specialists, social media managers, ecommerce consultants, etc.);
  • accountants and tax firms specialized in ecommerce, internationalization, business plans, crowdfunding, startups, and subsidized finance;
  • lawyers and law firms specialized in ICT, IT law, commercial and international law;
  • companies that sell products and/or services online (also known as “sellers” or “merchants”), whether to consumers (B2C) or businesses (B2B);
  • web agencies, digital agencies, and software houses;
  • communication and marketing agencies;
  • marketplaces;
  • CMS-based web platforms;
  • hosting providers and cloud computing providers;
  • telemarketing companies (call centers);
  • payment service providers (PSPs), banks, and financial institutions;
  • logistics operators (postal services, couriers, and delivery companies);
  • vocational training schools, private institutions, and universities;
  • online TV and radio broadcasters.

The goals of Assecomm

Assecomm aims to achieve the following goals:

  • protect the rights of consumers who purchase online in Albania and abroad;
  • protect the rights of sellers who operate online in Albania and abroad;
  • promote best practices for developing ecommerce websites, marketplaces, and apps;
  • promote best practices for building effective online sales strategies;
  • encourage the use of electronic card payments in Albania;
  • improve Albanian laws regarding ecommerce, e-invoicing, privacy protection, and alternative dispute resolution methods (ODR – Online Dispute Resolution);
  • define new professional roles and foster employment in the digital sector;
  • identify solutions to economic, infrastructural, administrative, fiscal, and legal issues in the digital sector;
  • publish trends, reports, and statistics on the ecommerce market in Albania;
  • engage with Albanian institutions and authorities to improve the domestic ecommerce market and increase exports;
  • support Albanian high-tech startups;
  • foster the development of startup incubators and acceleration programs;
  • support remote working;
  • assist and protect the interests of members and encourage networking;
  • promote the development of internet connectivity in Albania;
  • organize training courses and events throughout Albania;
  • promote the environmental sustainability of ecommerce;
  • simplify and improve the process of registering Albanian domain names (.AL);
  • certify website security with a quality seal (trustmark).
